While training there he became interested both in hand/upper extremity surgery and nerve surgery, as he trained with experts in targeted muscle re-innervation, migraine surgery, and thoracic outlet syndrome. He went on to complete a Hand, Nerve, and Microsurgery fellowship at Washington University of St. Louis, where he trained with renowned experts in both hand and nerve surgery. Dr. Larsen has been recognized as an outstanding scholar and physician through awards such as receiving the OSUMC Outstanding Academic Merit Scholarship, being inducted into the Gold Humanism honor society, and receiving a grant to improve medical education in Kenya. Dr. Larsen is now board-eligible in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is excited to be back home in the Southwest.
