Dr. Bennion is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and knee surgery and sports medicine. He performs advanced arthroscopic, minimally-invasive and open reconstructive surgery. Some examples include knee ligament reconstruction, meniscal surgery, rotator cuff repair, superior capsular reconstruction, reverse shoulder replacement and revision total shoulder arthroplasty. Additionally, he has authored and coauthored scientific articles and book chapters on topics related to shoulder surgery. He provides sports coverage and orthopaedic care to area high school, collegiate and professional athletes.
Furthermore, Dr. Bennion is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He received a bachelor degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. From there, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University where he was awarded the De La Vega Academic Scholarship for academic achievement. He was selected for early election to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated with honors. Dr. Bennion completed his orthopaedic residency at Summa HealthSystem in Akron, Ohio. From there, he went on to complete fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow surgery at the distinguished Carrell Clinic in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Bennion was privileged to train under renowned shoulder surgeons Drs. Wayne Z. Burkhead and Sumant G. Krishnan.
Dr. Bennion is committed to providing the highest quality service and treatment for his patients. He carefully explores the needs of every patient, and he believes in individualizing care based on the individual. Lastly, Dr. Bennion believes in treating his patients like family, and he is proud to see this extended family grow over time.
Dr. Bennion has returned to his hometown of Phoenix in 2008. Married to an OB/GYN and father of two, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is a budding horticulturalist and an avid cyclist.
